At the start of the year, the Scandinavian company Cramo was taken over by the Dutch company Boels Rental. On 1 December 2020, we will take the integration further and soon Cramo Deutschland will trade under the name Boels Rental Germany. The takeover makes Boels one of the largest rental companies in Germany. We have been working hard on the integration behind the scenes, the first visible sign of this being the branches turning orange, one after another.
Around 200 branches
The name Cramo will remain in the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. In Germany, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic, all branches will soon go by the name Boels. There are now around 200 Boels branches and approximately 1,200 DIY Service Points throughout Germany, so every customer has a branch nearby. This makes Boels one of the largest equipment hire companies in Germany.
Large rental fleet
In practice, the integration means that the fleet has been pooled to form a large rental fleet of 650,000. At Cramo, the emphasis was primarily on large stock; the perfect addition to Boels’ range, which mainly has small and medium-sized machines. Marnix Wijers, Director Operations Germany, explains: “The Cramo takeover enables us to serve our customers even better. We have more stock, more branches and more employees. This huge range enables us to offer customers a faster and more efficient ‘one-stop shop’; they can get everything they need from the same supplier.”
Boels continuous to invest in the machinery fleet even further. The company is proud to have the latest machinery in the industry and it intends to keep it this way. Boels also appreciates the importance of innovations such as digitalisation and the development of green, zero-emissions machinery. Renting in itself is a ‘green’ solution that is compatible with today’s sharing economy.
